The Impromptu at Versailles
Friday, April 8, 2022 @ 6:00 pm
FreePen, Paint, and Pretzels, the umbrella organization for student-run performing arts groups at Tufts University, presents its spring mainstage show, “The Impromptu at Versailles” by Molière in new translation by Tufts senior Kevin Schult. This one-act play follows Molière as he leads the first rehearsal of his new, hastily written play, which is scheduled to be performed for the king in just two hours. With the troupe low on time, low on resources, and pestered on all sides by malcontent critics and oblivious nobles, what ensues is a sassy, self-aware satire of theatre makers, inviting us to reflect on the personal and societal stresses that make artists the way we are.
Reserve free tickets through the Tufts online box office. Additional performances will be at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, and at noon on Sunday, April 10.
