Art Circle: Haitian Colors Spoken Word with Jean Dany Joachim
Friday, October 27, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeThe Gallery at Sanctuary invites you to the second of two “Art Circles” to discuss the current multimedia exhibition “Haitian Colors,” part of the gallery’s IamMigration Series. This evening’s session will feature reflections and conversation with spoken word artist Jean Dany Joachim. The poet in residence at First Church in Cambridge, he also created the Many Voices Project, a series of readings and follow-up poetry workshops inspiring conversations about race and equality. Participation also is available via Zoom; visit The Gallery’s website for the link.
“Haitian Colors” reflects the experience of four Haitian artists — Michele David, Bitho Faustin, Myriam Pitte and Sylvestre Telfort — whose journey and wisdom are shared through their work. The exhibition is on view throughout October; hours are Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. The exhibition also may be viewed by appointment; inquire by email to finance@sanctuaryucc.org.
