Spanish colonization of the New World created a musical culture that melded High Renaissance style with the colorful and lively music of indigenous peoples of Central and South America. Focusing on secular songs and instrumental music, the Tufts Early Music Ensemble will explore works from Spain, Portugal, Mexico and Peru for voices, violas da gamba, harp, lute, keyboard, and a variety of Renaissance wind instruments.
