Author Talk: Stephen Puleo – Voyage of Mercy
Wednesday, February 10 @ 7:00 pm
FreeThe Medford Historical Society presents author and historian Stephen Puleo in a Zoom talk about his book, “Voyage of Mercy: The USS Jamestown, the Irish Famine, and the Remarkable Story of America’s First Humanitarian Mission.” Puleo’s well-researched book tells the incredible story of the Irish potato famine, the USS Jamestown voyage, its captain Robert Bennet Forbes, the Irish priest who ministered to the starving in Cork city, and the commitment of thousands of ordinary Americans who offered relief to Ireland during the famine. This remarkable story provided the blueprint for future relief efforts.
Puleo also is the author of “The Boston Italians” and “Dark Tide: The Great Molasses Flood.”
