Friday, July 31, 2020 @ 6:15 pm

Sanctuary United Church of Christ continues its Black Lives Matter film series with an online showing and discussion of the 1989 Spike Lee film “Do The Right Thing.” In the film, on the hottest day of the year on a street in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, everyone’s hate and bigotry smolders and builds until it explodes into violence.

Crystal Chandler, leader of Mobilize Medford and documentary director, will be leading this discussion, starting at 8:30 p.m. Learn more about her experience and perspective as a black filmmaker.

Registration is required for this event: igfn.us/form/MQcEQg

Access to the film will be required at home. It can be viewed on Amazon Prime and YouTube ($3.99).

The Black Lives Matter films will deconstruct and frame an understanding of the inherent power structures in America and the effects this debilitating system has on communities and people of color.
