History of Drinking Water in Boston and Medford

Thursday, April 5, 2018 @ 7:00 pm

The Medford Garden Club presents the talk “Rivers, Lakes, and Reservoirs: History of Drinking Water in Boston and Medford.” Join Medford resident and Garden Club member Fred Laskey, executive director of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA), for a fascinating presentation on the history of our drinking water in Massachusetts, from the 17th century cistern to the 20th century use of innovative water engineering in the creation of the Quabbin Reservoir. He will also discuss Medford’s water with a brief history of its water system, including the former Tufts reservoir, the Mystic Lakes, and Spot Pond.

The talk is free and open to all.
