James Pierpont in Medford
Friday, December 8 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
Kyna Hamill, a reference volunteer at the Medford Historical Society & Museum and faculty member at Boston University, will speak on James Lord Pierpont (1822-93), the man who wrote “Jingle Bells.” Learn about his connections to Medford when he (sometimes) lived at his father’s house on Mystic Street between 1849 and 1857, his travels to California and Savannah, and how the minstrel halls of Boston taught him how to write one of the most popular American Christmas carols. Holiday refreshments and conversation to follow. MHSM members, guests, and those interested in Medford history are welcome. Donations to MHSM are appreciated.
