Moldover & the Future of Controllerism Workshop
Tuesday, October 17 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
San Francisco-based artist Moldover (a.k.a. The Godfather of Controllerism) will perform some of his new songs, talk about his career path, and share his approach to the technical and creative aspects of making music with his custom instruments and Ableton Live. Topics covered will include integrated writing and performance with Live, designing performance controllers (The Mojo, The Robocaster, The MC1), multiplayer instruments known as Jamboxes, and the creation of radical distribution models such as Playable Packaging (The Voice Crusher).
Moldover will detail the artistic challenges that necessitated the design of his devices and show how he takes unconventional ideas from home-made prototypes to polished products. Finally, he will discuss the idea of “controllerism” as an artistic ethos.
Guest parking passes can be purchased at the Tufts University Police Department (Dowling Hall garage, 419 Boston Ave.).
Free; no tickets required.
This workshop has been made possible by the Granoff Music Fund. Presented by the Tufts Program in Music Engineering.
