Refugee Integration Arts Festival: Suitcase Stories
Friday, October 2, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Tufts University presents the Refugee Integration Arts Festival, a one-of-a-kind event that brings together artists, researchers, and the broader public to explore the integration experiences of refugees and communities. Artists have the power to express and represent experiences when words fail to do so. Rather than just showing all the ways in which refugees and immigrants contribute to society, the RIT Arts Festival will explore how immigration and the integration experiences are embodied in the process of art-making itself.
Through a series of interactive workshops and facilitated conversations with artists themselves, guests at the RIT Art Festival will have an opportunity to engage with different forms of art while also learning about the artist’s process, intention, and the meaning of art-making for the immigration experience and integration process.
The Arts Festival begins this evening with “Suitcase Stories,” a traveling live performance series that features foreign and U.S.-born residents sharing refugee and immigrant stories.
