Dance Caliente Virtual Polka Workshop

Thursday, June 17, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

The Medford Public Library presents Dance Caliente — Eileen Herman-Haase and Raul Nieves — leading another fun and lively dance virtual workshop for dancers of all levels. Today’s session will be on the polka.

The polka originated in the middle of the 19th century in Bohemia, now part of the Czech Republic. Polka dancing enjoyed a resurgence in popularity after World War II, when many Polish refugees moved to the U.S. Polka dances are still held across many parts of the U.S. and South America.
The polka is characterized by three quick steps and a hop and is danced to music in 2/4 time. Let Eileen and Raul show you how. Visit this link to see the routine they are planning to teach you during this workshop: https://www.facebook.com/DanceCaliente/videos/3926285667420564

Please register through the library’s online calendar, https://medfordlibrary.org/event/dance-caliente-polka/, or call the Information Desk at 781-395-7950, and you will receive the Zoom link the day before the event.
