Maud Powell String Institute Violin and Cello Camp

$500The Maud Powell String Institute is presenting a summer intensive workshop for beginning violin and cello for children ages 5 and older. The program includes interactive classes, private lessons and collaborative training. No previous experience is necessary. The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from August 9-20 at First Baptist Church of Medford on Oakland Street in Medford Square. A concluding performance will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 22.
Tuition is $500 per child for both weeks, plus a one-time registration fee of $25. Instruments are provided. Thanks to a grant from the Medford Arts Council, the program is free of cost for Medford immigrant children. Full and partial scholarships also are available.
The Maud Powell String Institute, founded by violinist Dorisiya Yosifova, is a nonprofit string program for ages 4-18. It provides high-quality and affordable music education to immigrant underserved communities, and fosters a diverse and collaborative learning environment for all students.
