Brooks Estate Access Drive Preliminary Design Presentation
Wednesday, November 17, 2021 @ 7:00 pm
The Medford-Brooks Estate Land Trust (M-BELT) invites you to an online presentation on the preliminary design for the new access drive into the estate. M-BELT has worked to protect and restore the Brooks Estate in Medford for over 20 years. Among the goals of the overall project is the redesign and rebuilding of the historic access drive that runs from Grove Street to the Shepherd Brooks Manor.
Using Community Preserve Act (CPA) funding and its own funds), M-BELT has developed a detailed plan for the access drive and related infrastructure that will preserve the character of the historic landscape, conform to the Conservation and Preservation Restriction for the Brooks Estate, meet modern user needs, and support the public use of the historic Shepherd Brooks Manor and Carriage House. The plan’s scope includes provisions for upgrading utilities, parking and related infrastructure, both along the access drive and in the Historic Core area near the Manor.
At this meeting, M-BELT will present the preliminary plan for the access drive design and seek input from the public.

M-BELT is a nonprofit organization that manages the Brooks Estate, owned by the City of Medford. A former Victorian summer retreat for Peter Chardon Brooks and Shepherd Brooks, the property is graced by two Victorian buildings, the Shepherd Brooks Manor and Carriage House (1880), both slated for adaptive re-use as community assets. The property also offers Brooks Pond and 50 acres of open space for birds, wildlife and nature lovers.
