Journaling Through History: Mary Folsom Blair and Changing Times for Women
Thursday, March 16, 2023 @ 7:00 pm
FreeAs the 20th century dawned, women were experiencing new roles, challenges and opportunities. The words and life of Mary Folsom Blair, who was born in 1881 and spent her life teaching in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, reflect that era. When Medford writer Phil Primack, purchased land in Epping, New Hampshire, in 1974, Mary Folsom Blair was just a name on the deed. Over the next four decades, Primack dedicated himself to researching the life and times of this fascinating woman. The result was his new book, “Put It Down on Paper: The Words and Life of Mary Folsom Blair – A Fifty-Year Search (Loom Press, 2022). Primack’s perseverance in chronicling this woman offers a good example for anyone interested in researching any historic topic, be it a person, a building, or an incident. RSVP through the library’s online calendar. Co-sponsored by the Medford Historical Society & Museum.
