African Art Lecture Series
Sunday, September 8 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
FreeThe Medford Public Library begins a second Sunday series of online lectures meant as an introduction to African Art, its variety of forms, the depth of its history, and how it became an important player first in Western culture and continues to be important in a global world. Today’s session will focus on 21st century African photography, featuring the works on exhibit at the Fitchburg Art Museum, “Africa Rising,” as well as that part of the backstory centered on Studio Portraiture. Register using the link on the library’s online calendar.
Additional sessions in the series will focus on African Art in the medieval world – 1000-1600 CE (October 13) and African Art and the West (November 10).
