FreeAnnie Palmquist, owner of the new Palmquist Studio of Music in West Medford, is offering four free demo classes for families interested in trying out one of her audiation-based Music Play or Keyboard Games classes. The first Music Play demo class — music and movement for ages 0 to 4 with parent or caregiver — will be offered from 9 to 9:45 a.m. today. It will also be offered from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 14. The Keyboard Games class — group piano for ages 4 and older — will be offered from 4 to 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, and from 11 to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 14. The demo classes are free, but Palmquist asks that interested families sign up by filling out a contact form on my her website.
Palmquist started teaching piano eight years ago using a traditional five-finger, notation-based approach, but within a few years she discovered Music Learning Theory and its audiation-based approach. Very quickly she found that an audiation-based approach is a far more effective way for her students to learn music. So since 2021, she has been learning this innovative and creative way of teaching alongside her students, with what she describes as amazing results.
