Taino Cultural Presentation

FreeThe Medford Council on Aging invites you to a Taino cultural presentation in recognition of Native American Heritage Month. Chali’naru Dones is a Boriken Taino woman and a member of the Guainia Taino Tribe. A devoted human rights advocate, artist, and creative entrepreneur. Known as the one who brings joy, Chali lights up any space. Her ceremonial practices and prayers have touched hearts in the New England area, Boriken (Puerto Rico), and beyond. She currently serves as liaison officer of the United Confederation of Taino People in Massachusetts, engaging with local community members and area Tribal Nations. Chali focuses attention on the following issues: Indigenous erasure, Indigenous sovereignty, dismantling white supremacy, improving school curriculum for Indigenous students, Indigenous representations, and emotional wellness support for Indigenous children.
