Artist Reception: Pulling Teeth and Jumping Rope
Tufts University Art Galleries invites you to a reception with the 27 graduating master of fine arts students from the School of The Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts whose work is featured in the current exhibition "Pulling Teeth and Jumping Rope." Reserve your place through Eventbrite. The exhibition will be on view through Sunday, May 19, during regular gallery hours (11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday).

The Medford Historical Society & Museum is hosting the exhibition "Freedom Denied/Freedom Insisted Upon: Selected Documents & Life Stories from Struggles for Equality in Medford." The program is part of the regional Freedom's Way program called "Hidden Treasures." The display includes documents from the Atlantic slave trade and exhibits about women's rights and immigrant experiences. An interactive handout about the exhibit will be provided to visitors. The McGlynn Middle School invites the community to its special showcase of student talent. Titled "Art is for Everyone," every McGlynn student will have art on display. There also will be live music performances by McGlynn students. Funds for this project have been donated by Cummings Foundation, the Mystic Valley Public Health Coalition, and the Medford Arts Council.

Medford High School opens its AP Art Exhibit, which will be on display weekdays during school hours from today through Wednesday, May 29. Also on display, in the main lobby, will be the Senior Portfolio Exhibit for Stella Heinegg, whose recently won three honors in the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards.

Medford Public Schools Arts Month events continue this evening with the Missituk Elementary School Specialist Showcase. It will include performances by student singers and stringed instrument players, and the display of a school-created mural, and a poetry mural with poems created by the Missituk student body.

Arts Collaborative Medford invites you to the opening of “Unlimited Sequence,” the inaugural exhibition for ACM’s literary corner. Featured are the original graphic novels of nine members of the Graphic Novel Club at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, as well as the club’s annual publication of Blot Magazine. Medford Public Schools Arts Month events continue this evening with the Brooks Elementary School Specialist Showcase, featuring works by students from throughout the school year.
