First Baptist Church of Medford invites the community to a cookout and movie night. There will be free hotdogs, hamburgers and chips starting at 6:30, followed by a movie for all ages at 7:30. What movie? The Medford Recreation Department has added a fourth film to its summer outdoor movie series, presenting  "A League of Their Own" at Tufts Park. The movie will begin at 8 p.m., but come an hour earlier as the Rec Department will have music and lawn games set up in the field, along with free popcorn. The Medford Recreation Department concludes its summer outdoor movie series with a showing of the 1991 Steven Spielberg adventure/fantasy film "Hook" at Wright's Pond. The movie (2 hours, 15 minutes long) will begin at 8 p.m., but come an hour earlier as the Rec Department will have music and lawn games set up onsite, along with free popcorn. Tufts University's Department of Community Relations presents and outdoor showing of the Disney film "Encanto," which was postponed due to bad weather in June. "Encanto," a computer-animated musical fantasy comedy, won a 2022 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.
