Sanctuary United Church of Christ presents a reception and reflection with Dirkje Legerstee, whose exhibit “Angels in Human Skin” is on display in the Sanctuary Gallery from January 7 until February 16. Legerstee created her installation, with an accompanying story presentation, to honor and remember her family’s survival through World War II as “Nazi War Victims.” Her father was a Dutch Christian who was forcibly taken by the Nazis as a Labor slave; her mother, a Polish Jew, survived the Shoah by hiding in the open.
