Artist Reception: City Hall Exhibit
Wednesday, March 28, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
FreeMembers of the public are invited to a reception with Medford artists Sarah Gerould and Patrice Kastenholz, whose work is being displayed at Medford City Hall through April 5.
Gerould’s exhibition, “Vegetables on Vacation,” features anthropomorphic vegetables engaging in a variety of activities – from lounging on the beach to slow-dancing. Gerould, who has painted as a hobby for many years, originally used anthropomorphic vegetables as a way to comment on social or political issues.
Kastenholz’s exhibition, “B&M, It’s Not Just Beans: Boston and Medford Watercolors,” features brightly colored scenes, many of Medford, often with something strange or unexpected added in. Relatively new to art, Kastenholz started painting after developing degenerative arthritis, which impacted her ability to walk. She turned to artwork as a way to cope with the onset of physical disabilities and subsequent depression.
