Banned Books and Kiss-Ins with the History Project
Wednesday, October 4, 2023 @ 7:00 pm
FreeThe Medford Public Library presents the program Banned Books and Kiss-Ins with the History Project. From early Puritan laws regulating clothing to 20th century attempts to censor films, plays, and books, attacks on LGBTQ+ expression aren’t new. Despite efforts to closet school teachers, limit queer publications, and enforce cis-gendered and heteronormative expression, the queer community has survived and thrived. Join Joan Ilacqua, executive director of the History Project, for a presentation and conversation about the LGBTQ+ community’s efforts to combat censorship and demand visibility. RSVP through the library’s online calendar.
