What are teens actually doing on their smartphones? Contrary to many adults’ assumptions, they are not simply “addicted” to their screens. They are just trying to navigate a networked world. Carrie James is a Harvard researcher and expert on teens and technology. Come to the Medford Public Library to hear her talk about her recent book, “Behind the Screens” (MIT Press, 2022) , in which she and co-author Emily Weinstein explore the complexities that teens face in their digital lives, and suggest that many adult efforts to help fall short. After James’ presentation, copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing.
