The Porch Southern Fare & Juke Joint at River’s Edge kicks off its 2020 live music season by welcoming Big Jon Short for an evening of free blues. Based in the Northeast, Short performs 150 to 200 shows per year in barbecue joints, blues rooms, and at festivals from Massachusetts to Mississippi. For more than two years he held a residency at the famed Terra Blues in New York City – all while continuing his work as a public school teacher, running Blues in Schools programs and workshops. In 2010 he was awarded the Worcester Cultural Commission Artist Fellowship for his work as a blues performer and educator, and he is currently supporting his most recent live recording of country blues, “Live at The Stomping Ground.”
