Brooks Estate Fall Open House
Sunday, October 20, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeHave you always been curious about what’s inside at the City of Medford’s historic Shepherd Brooks Manor? Come to one of the tours being offered by the Medford-Brooks Estate Land Trust (M-BELT) as part of a Fall Open House (the last tour will begin at 3:30 p.m.). M-BELT board members also will be on hand to provide updates on projects funded this year by the Community Preservation Act.
Important parking rules: It’s best to walk in at the green gate and blue sign at 275 Grove Street, and then walk up the access drive to the end. Limited spaces are available at the Boardwalk lot along the access drive, and at the Manor, with preference at the manor for handicapped parking. Please do not park in Oak Grove Cemetery, along the access drive, or on Grove Street. If you need handicapped parking, drive slowly up the access drive to the Manor. You will be shown where to park.

The Brooks Estate was first settled in about 1660, and was transformed into a Victorian summer retreat by Peter Chardon and Shepherd Brooks. It is graced by two fine Victorian buildings: the Shepherd Brooks Manor and Carriage House (1880), both under restoration. The Brooks Estate is owned by the people of Medford and has been permanently protected for the current generation and generations to come. M-BELT is the community nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of this historic and open space asset.
