Ebisuya Tanabata Festival
Sunday, July 7 @ 11:30 am - 3:00 pm
Ebisuya Japanese Market on Riverside Avenue invites you to its Tanabata Festival. Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival, takes place on the seventh day of the seventh month of the year. It originated from the Chinese Qixi Festival and celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi.
The event will feature special festival food and beverages — Okonomiyaki, Yakisoba, Takoyaki, Kaki Gori, Karaage, Matcha Shake, plus a Sushi Combo — Matsuri games, and a bamboo tree with colored strips called Tanzanian for you to write your wish and hang on the tree. Attendees wearing a Japanese traditional outfit such as Kimono, Jinbei, etc., will receive a free Matcha Shake (while supplies last). Please be aware that even though some outfits, such as Anime shirts or shirts with Japanese characters, are related to Japanese culture, they will NOT count as a traditional outfit.
