Elly Berke: Free Samples
Thursday, December 12, 2019 @ 7:00 pm
FreeWashvault Lab, a reimagined laundromat on Boston Avenue, presents “Free Samples,” and evening of short-play readings led by Somerville-based playwright and poet Elly Berke. Elly has a wide range of experience in acting, improv comedy and creative education. She was a costumed interpreter and educator at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum for five years, helping to develop new programming. She subsequently earned a Master’s of the Arts in Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and currently works as an ESL teacher in Boston.
The plays will be cast spontaneously by drawing names. Actors then have three minutes to conference with the playwright before performing, so actors looking for stage time are welcome to attend! This event will be free and open to the public, and will likely include some holiday-themed cookies!
Washvault Lab is re-envisioning the laundry experience along social and environmental touchpoints, offering a new approach to laundry services that prioritizes the user experience. Washvault aims to positively impact the local community, the environment, and its customers through meaningful outreach opportunities and sustainability efforts, including events that bring together Tufts students and local artists.
