Sanctuary United Church of Christ concludes the exhibit of photographer Astrid Reischwitz‘s project “Stories from the Kitchen Table.” Reischwitz created “Stories from the Kitchen Table” to preserve and honor a fading way of life in her childhood home, an old farmhouse in a small village in northern Germany. Connecting past and present, her composites include old family photos combined with images reflecting how she perceives her heritage today.

Astrid is a Boston-area photographer whose work explores the possibilities of storytelling from a personal perspective. Her projects include intimate views of private spaces and reflections on her own history and values. Using keepsakes from family life, old photographs and storytelling strategies, she builds a visual world of memory, identity, place, and home.

The Sanctuary Gallery is open Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon, and by appointment (781-395-3360).
