Faith and Film Online: Jojo Rabbit
Friday, June 19, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
With Sanctuary United Church of Christ closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the church is again offering this month’s Faith and Film series program online (Note: Access to Netflix is required.) The series explores the places where pop culture meets faith. Viewers watch a current film, followed by a discussion led by Chad and Anna Kidd about themes of morality, faith and humanity.
Tonight’s film is “Jojo Rabbit” (2019) starring Roman Griffin Davis. Jojo is a lonely German boy who discovers that his single mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic. Aided only by his imaginary friend — Adolf Hitler — Jojo must confront his blind nationalism and fanaticism in this darkly funny comedy, as World War II continues to rage on.
Viewers will join together on Zoom from 6:30 to about 6:45 to say hello, get connected to each other, and hear from the leaders with their invitation to the film. Then they will begin watching the film (via your own Netflix access). When the film is finished, there will be a three-minute break, then viewers should return to Zoom for the discussion led by Chad and Anna Kidd.
