Film and Discussion: A Reckoning in Boston

Monday, September 27, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Tufts University invites the community to a screening and discussion of the film “A Reckoning in Boston,” a documentary by James Rutenbeck about racial and economic inequalities in cities. In the film, a 65-year-old grandfather and a 44-year-old woman both have different reasons for enrolling in a humanities course at a Boston community center. Five years later, the two have arrived at surprising places in their lives.

The film will be screened from noon to 1:30 p.m., followed by a talk by its director, James Rutenbeck, from 1:35 to 2:30 p.m., and then an audience Q&A from 2:35 to 3 p.m. Audience members may attend the event at Barnum Hall Room 104, or through Zoom. Register here: https://bit.ly/3i0ItXp

The program is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the university’s Office of the Chief Diversity Officer, Department of Political Science, Department of Anthropology, Department of Religion, and the Tisch College of Civic Life.
