Tufts University welcomes pianist and radio host Guy Livingston, who will draw on his experiences as musician and podcaster in a talk titled “Music In Outer Space: Fiction vs. Reality.” From Star Wars to A Space Odyssey, music has defined our feelings and emotions connected with space. The reality of music in space is sometimes more prosaic, but also much wilder. The two golden records on the Voyager spacecraft, the audio composed by various musicians which has been played in space; these are just as fantastic as the movie soundtracks.

This talk is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Reverberations: Sound and Space and is sponsored by the Tufts University Art Galleries and the Department of Music.
