The Medford Kiwanis Club invites to the community to the lighting of their Christmas Wishing Tree in the Rose Sloane Plaza, an annual tradition that dates as far back as 1927. Festivities start at 3:30 p.m. with holiday caroling, hot cocoa, cookies courtesy of Modern Pastry, and ornament making. Globe Santa will arrive at 4 p.m. on a Medford fire truck, and the tree lighting will take place at 4:30. Kiwanis Club members will make their annual Globe Santa donation presentation and the event concludes at 5:30.

The Medford Kiwanis Wishing Tree is a service project of the club to bring some holiday spirit and magic to Medford children and the community. Medford Kiwanis raises and distributes $50,000 annually for programs that benefit the children’s college scholarships, sports programs, school programs, books for every first- and third-grader, and more. The club also was the first civic sponsor of the city’s new library.
