Tufts University graduate student Micah Huang presents as his Master’s Thesis Concert, a mixed-media performance in which speakers tell oral histories related to personal experience with prejudice and stereotypes, while a music ensemble provides a live underscore. The goal of the program is to facilitate deeper understanding within the work and academic community at Tufts. This means that while the performance is open to the public, the real reward will be felt when someone who the speaker interacts with often hears their testimony, thereby gaining a critical insight into the speaker’s experience, which Huang hopes will help undo misunderstanding and other wounds that result from the vicious cycle of prejudice and assumption.
