Revitalization and Reconstruction of the Taino Language

FreeThe Medford Public Library is co-sponsoring an online program about current efforts to revive the Taino language. Kasike Jorge Baracutay Estevez will speak on the challenges of reviving the Indigenous Taino Arawak language/s of the Caribbean, as well as his work on Hiwatahia: Hekexi Taino Language Dictionary, a new 20,000-word dictionary. Dr. Darlene Flores, a founding member of Indigenous Peoples Day Newton, will introduce this program. Register through the library’s new online calendar to receive the Zoom link.
