Tufts Art Galleries Fall Exhibitions Opening
Monday, August 30, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
FreeTufts University Art Galleries reopens to everyone today with a new season of exhibitions. The Galleries begin the year with a look at feminist art practices from the 1970s to now. “Staying with the Trouble” brings together an intergenerational group of artists from Judy Chicago and Faith Wilding to Cauleen Smith, Paula Wilson and MPA to draw out a lineage of artists who have turned to the land and its deep set of knowledges to find a way forward.
An exploration of landscape continues with “Unsettling the Archive: Exploring Tufts’ Relationships with Land,” a yearlong exhibition and research project into the Indigenous histories of Tufts’ own site and archives. “Connecting Threads / Survivor Objects” tells a parallel story of diaspora and resilience through a collection of Armenian liturgical textiles through the scholarship of Tufts faculty and students, in collaboration with the Armenian Museum of America in Watertown, shedding light on the craft and collective power of these works.
Galleries hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Guests will be required to wear masks, complete a brief COVID screening survey, and follow Tufts University COVID guidelines. A reception for the fall exhibitions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 23.⠀
