Tufts Chamber Orchestra
Tuesday, April 23, 2019 @ 8:00 pm
In its final concert of the 2018-19 school year, the Tufts University Chamber Orchestra presents a colorful program of works from three different musical periods. The first, Orawa by Wojciech Kilar, is a post-minimalist piece for string orchestra. Its driving power and unexpected harmonies showcase what the TCO strings are capable of. Second on the program is the Concert Românesc, written in 1951 by György Ligeti. This colorful piece paints a picture of Eastern Europe with a collection of folk and Klezmer tunes, and displays an intensity that chamber orchestras are rarely known for. The concert ends with Mozart’s famous “Haffner” Symphony, an energetic piece that is a quintessential of the classical period.
Free; no tickets required.
This concert will be live streamed via the Tufts Music Live stream page.
