Tufts Civic Life Lunch: Can Libraries Save Democracy?

Tuesday, November 1, 2022 @ 12:00 pm

Free

The Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University presents a lunchtime panel discussion, “Can Libraries Save Democracy?” With nearly two centuries of impact on American life, libraries are among the most established civic institutions in the United States. At a time when democracy feels fragile — and when libraries themselves are increasingly under attack — what is the role of libraries today? Join a conversation with Tamara King, Chief Equity and Engagement Officer for Richland Library in South Carolina, and Kelly Linehan, Director of the Waltham Public Library. Free and open to the public; register through the event web page. Please note that visitors attending events on campus are required to be vaccinated and boosted, if eligible, and may be asked to show proof of vaccination.  Co-sponsored by the Tufts Political Science Department and the Tufts Republicans.
