The Tufts University Department of Music Sunday Concert Series presents a tribute to Joe Val, the Waltham-based bluegrass singer and band leader who helped bluegrass move beyond its regional roots and into New England. Since Val’s death in 1984, his memory has been honored by an annual festival in Framingham, and in 2008, the group Joe Sings Joe was formed to re-create his music. The group will reassemble for this concert for the first time since 2012, and will feature musicians who performed and recorded with Joe Val before his death.
