Vienna to Spain: Bach, Beethoven & De Falla

FreeFirst Baptist Church of Medford continues its fall concert series with “Vienna to Spain: Bach, Beethoven & De Falla,” featuring Akiko Kobayashi, violin, and Eric Seipkes, piano. The program features three sonatas written when the composers were at the apex of their creative powers: Bach: Sonata for Violin & Clavier no.1 in b minor, BWV 1014; Beethoven: Sonata for Violin & Piano no.8, op.30 no.3 in G major; and De Falla: Suite Populaire Espagnole.
New York-born Kobayashi is an active solo and chamber musician. She has appeared as a soloist with the West Islip Symphony Orchestra, Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Suginami Kokaido Chamber Orchestra, and InterHarmony Festival Orchestra. Siepkes studied piano performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., for his Bachelor of Music degree, where he was awarded the Howard Hanson Scholarship and the George Eastman Grant. He has performed in master classes for Richard Goode, Angela Hewitt and Natalya Antonova, and has played in chamber music master classes for London Baroque, the Avalon String Quartet, and the Eroica Trio.
