The Tufts University Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies presents its sixth and final performance of the musical  “Violet,” based on “The Ugliest Pilgrim” by Doris Betts and directed by Bridget Kathleen O’Leary with with music by Jeanine Tesori.

Synopsis: As a result of an accident that leaves her with a prominent scar on her face, Violet has been forced to become a self-sufficient, articulate, and driven young woman. Taking all the money she has saved, and with her mother’s Bible at her side, Violet journeys from North Carolina to Oklahoma in search of a preacher who can heal her scars. Inspired by the short story “The Ugliest Pilgrim,” “Violet” is a beautiful and poignant reminder that strength and resilience are more than skin deep.

Tickets are $15 for the public and $10 for seniors and members of the Tufts community. They are available through the Tufts Drama and Dance online box office.
