The roots of the West Medford Community Center, a CACHE member, go back to 1800s and arose from the recognized needs of the African American community, which established itself in West Medford. There was interest in developing a wide range of services and recreational opportunities. There was also the desire to have an organized voice to deal with the issues of civic and social justice.
