This month’s “Words and Music” program at the West Medford Community Center will blend history and storytelling under the title, “Once Upon a Time: The Art of the Story.” In the “Words” portion of the evening, local history experts Sharon Kennedy and Dee Morris will join poet-host Terry Carter in an evening of dialogue and dramatization as stories, personalities and folklore come to life.

The “Music” segment will feature a star on the Boston music scene, Athene Wilson, a three-time Boston Urban Music Award winner. People around the world have enjoyed Wilson’s melodic sounds in jazz clubs, concerts and at special events. She will be accompanied by Rollins Ross.

The West Medford Community Center launched Words and Music in 2017. Usually presented on the first Friday of every month, the event starts off with a discussion on a valuable aspect of the community, followed by a performance by a local musician or musicians.
