Words and Music: Black History Month
Friday, February 8, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
FreeThe West Medford Community Center presents its monthly “Words and Music” program, with a Black History Month theme.
The “Words” portion of the evening will feature a multi-media program with video, music, poetry and discussion that will kick off a yearlong effort to acknowledge and celebrate the unique experience of the African American veteran, with a focus on those from Medford who have served in the military during the last century. As part of this program, WMCC plans to produce a long-form video focusing on the 20th-century African American soldier.
The “Music” portion of the evening will feature Tufts S-Factor, the only all-male a cappella group at Tufts University that specializes in music of the African Diaspora.
The Community Center launched Words and Music in mid-2017. Usually presented on the first Friday of every month, the event starts off with a discussion on a valuable aspect of the community, followed by a performance by a local musician or musicians. For more information on this and other events, visit the WMCC website or call the center at 781-483-3042.
