Words and Music: The Local Church – Community Activism and Social Justice
Friday, December 7, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
FreeThe West Medford Community Center presents its monthly “Words and Music” program.
The topic for the “Words” portion of the evening will be “The Local Church – Community Activism and Social Justice.” Principals from several Medford-based houses of worship will discuss the role of the local church in these areas and offer a contemporary perspective on what they preach and what they practice.
The “Music” portion of the evening will feature pastor Zenzo Matoga, a missionary from Malawi, Africa. Pastor Matoga has a desire to see unity among the people of God, true worship and world-wide revival. He and and his wife, Michelle, established Boston Night of Worship in 2007 and planted Impact Church in Medford a few years ago. Impact is one of the fastest growing nondenominational Christian congregations in the Medford area. Pastor Matoga is also a phenomenal musician, a talented singer, a prolific songwriter, and an award-winning music producer.
The Community Center launched Words and Music in the summer of 2017. Offered the first Friday of every month, the event starts off with a discussion on a valuable aspect of the community, followed by a performance by a local musician or musicians.
