Words and Music: Summer in the City

FreeThe West Medford Community Center presents its monthly “Words and Music” program, with the theme “Summer in the City.” In the “Words” portion of the evening, panelists will explore the full range of activities and events that make Medford a special place to be in the summer months.
For the “Music” portion, Medford songstress Sayida Rivers Farmer will perform an array of covers of jazz, blues, pop and swing songs. Sayida has been singing all her life, from her early childhood in New York until now, where she sings with the New England Conservatory Gospel Choir and at the Somerville Baptist Church.
The Community Center launched Words and Music in 2017. Usually presented on the first Friday of every month, the event starts off with a discussion on a valuable aspect of the community, followed by a performance by a local musician or musicians.
