The West Medford Community Center presents its monthly “Words and Music” program, this edition titled “WMCC 101.”

The “Words” portion of the program will be dedicated to an informative primer on the West Medford Community Center itself — “who we are, what we do, and why we continue to be a vital thread of this neighborhood.” Representatives of the center’s many programs and services will be on hand to advance the discussion and present a solid perspective on how this unique organization continues to grow and prosper as the West Medford community embraces new people, new ideas, and a new identity.

The “Music” — blues, folk, pop and jazz — will be provided the group 12th Street and Vine, led by Medford vocalist and concert violinist Janet Casey. Other members are Bill Casey (Janet’s brother) on drums; Guido Tamburini (Janet’s husband) on guitar, and Mike Duke on bass and vocals.

The Community Center launched Words and Music in the summer of 2017. Offered the first Friday of every month, the event starts off with a discussion on a valuable aspect of the community, followed by a performance by a local musician or musicians.
