Words and Music: Women of Substance
Friday, October 4, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
FreeThis month’s “Words and Music” program West Medford Community Center will feature the third installment of its “Women of Substance” series, with guests Mayor Stephanie Muccini Burke and singer Lydia Harrell. In the “Words” portion of the evening, host Terry Carter will go one-on-one with Mayor Burke to learn about her unique journey to the City Hall corner office, and get her perspective on governing and the future of the city. In the “Music” segment, Lydia “The Lovely Singer” Harrell will show off her sultry, soulful voice in a jazzy set accompanied by Joel Hiller on keyboards. A voice instructor at Berklee College of Music, Harrell was a Best Female Performer nominee for the New England Music Awards.
The West Medford Community Center launched Words and Music in 2017. Usually presented on the first Friday of every month, the event starts off with a discussion on a valuable aspect of the community, followed by a performance by a local musician or musicians.
