First Baptist Church of Medford welcomes guitarists Raley Beggs and Carl Straussner for an eclectic concert featuring Western classical music and works by South African composers inspired by traditional African music. Duo du Sud seeks to revitalize and expand the guitar repertoire, performing concerts that are equal parts virtuosic and vibrant. They will perform works by Robert Johnson, Johannes Kapsberger, Ali Farka Touré, and David Hewitt.

Juventas New Music Ensemble opens its 2024-25 concert season — its 20th — with "Limestone and Felt," a free Neighborhood Series Concert at First Baptist Church of Medford. The program will include mesmerizing music by living composers featuring the unique pairing of cello and percussion. It will feature works by Osnat Netzer, Caroline Shaw, and Osvaldo Golijov, and performances by Timothy Peak, cello, and Thomas Schmidt, percussion. Supported in part by a Medford Arts Council grant.

The Kalliope Reed Quintet, led by founder and artistic director Natalie Zemba on bassoon, returns to First Baptist Church of Medford for a local presentation of their fall repertoire. Enjoy recent works by Abraham Gómez, Daniel Cueto and Alyssa Morris alongside classics from Rameau and Gershwin. Other members are Anna Bradford, oboe; Celine Ferro, clarinet; Amy Advocat, bass clarinet; and Bennett Parsons, saxophone. Free admission for all.
