Words and Music: Juneteenth

FreeWest Medford Community Center’s Word and Music series presents “Medford Connections: Juneteenth.” Tune in for a conversation with Gwen Blackburn, host of the radio show “Minority Counterpoint,” and professor Julius Wayne Dudley about Medford’s own histories connected to Juneteenth. Following will be live music by the J Street Blues featuring Elliott Johnson, Greg Miller, Sir Cecil and Lee Lundie. The WMCC’s second annual Juneteenth Celebration will be presented virtually from 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 19.

West Medford Community Center launched Words and Music in 2017. Usually presented on the first Friday of every month, the event starts off with a discussion on a valuable aspect of the community, followed by a performance by a local musician or musicians.
